It's my favorite weekend of the Golf calendar: The Mercedes Championship. Three reasons: It's the official start to the new PGA season, it's restricted to the players who have won the prior year, and it's played on the only course I've ever played under near-tournament conditions. The Plantation Course at Kapalua probably still holds several of my balls, but I enjoyed it greatly. My dad and I played on Christmas vacation, while workers were putting up the fan scaffolds and the greens and rough were being maintained at tour quality. The course is beautiful, it's got some amazing changes in altitude, and I played pretty well on some pretty brutal holes (Unless I'm mixing up my Hawaii courses, that includes a near hole-in-one on 8). My family has spent several Christmases on Maui now, and every time, it's been memorable.
